Message from the President of the Kennedy Inn of Court
Hon. James M. Mize

Welcome to the Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court.

Since 1988, the Kennedy Inn has been one of the most dynamic and successful Inns in America. Founded by our illustrious namesake, U. S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy along with U.S. District Court Judge Milton Schwartz and the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, Dean Gordon Schaber, and Professors Jed “Skip” Scully and Robert F. O’Neal, the Kennedy Inn has enjoyed unparalleled success in encouraging and supporting professional, ethical and civil practices in our courts. As one of the earlier Inns within the American Inns of Court movement, we have had the privilege of breaking bread, sharing stories and debating forensic subtleties with many of the finest justices, judges, attorneys and students in the greater Sacramento area. Over the last 10 years, and competing with over 400 Inns, we have consistently secured awards for best programs in the nation and we expect to continue that superior standard.
However, I believe the most important work we do is creating an environment in our legal community where the highest qualities of professionalism, civility and ethics are expected as the norm. To that end we are carrying on the mission envisioned in 1985 by Chief Justice Warren E. Burger of the United States Supreme Court when he formally established the American Inns of Court Foundation.

We hope this website will enhance your association with our Inn.

If you are new to the Kennedy Inn or to the Inns of Court movement, we hope the public site will allow you to explore the history and goals of the Inns both nationally and locally. You will find an explanation of what to expect and what would be expected of you if you were to be accepted into the Inn. Complete application information is available on the public site.

If you are already a member of the Kennedy Inn, the member’s site will allow you to access the complete current and historical roster of members, to download substantive written materials from each program, to continue discussions on line with members and much more.

Again, welcome to the Kennedy Inn. Together we can create a justice system of which our parents would be proud and to which our children will aspire.
